apply the darker shade to the hollows of your cheeks, the temples, the jaw line, sides and tip of your nose. Blending is key! apply the lighter shade on top of the cheekbones, down the centre of the nose, the lip's cupid bow and your brow bone

Lighting is always going to be an issue, I would ask for a sample of a couple that even in that light look close then take the samples away to try in a different space and compare again

I do not understand why I always feel that I have applied very little concealer despite applying loads of it. Any help where I am going wrong?

Try a full coverage concealer the Nars radiant creamy is a good one

How are you applying it and onto what? I always apply over primer that’s had time to sit. I let the concealer sit for a few minutes before I then blend with a sponge or suitable brush with more of a tapping motion (edited)

it would depend on your skin tone e.g. red and orange blush colours are best for warm tones; berry and mauve colours are best for cool tones

Try concealing the lips first, it can help the lip product have something to stick to

gently press a tissue against your lips to remove any excess oil or moisture. Then, dust a small amount of translucent powder over your lips using a fluffy brush. The powder helps set the gloss, keeping it in place for an extended period.
